Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has expressed firm confidence in President William Ruto’s re-election prospects, declaring that defeating him in the 2027 general elections will be “very difficult.”

Speaking during the burial of Mzee Aggrey Luseno, a respected corporate figure in Western Kenya, Mudavadi pointed to Ruto’s expanding political influence and broad alliances, including his cooperation with ODM leader Raila Odinga, as indicators of his growing national appeal and political dominance.

“I have been in politics for a long time, and I have looked at it again. I want to tell you it will be very difficult to beat William Ruto in 2027,” said Mudavadi, urging the Western region to unite behind Ruto’s development agenda and to avoid political fragmentation.

He lauded the emerging political cooperation between President Ruto and Raila Odinga, describing it as a sign of leadership maturity and a necessary step toward national unity. “Raila is a person whose faculties are intact. As ODM leader, he made a deliberate choice to work with Kenya Kwanza. We must stop seeing politics in black and white,” Mudavadi said.

Highlighting the duo’s joint campaign for Raila’s African Union Commission Chairmanship bid, Mudavadi framed the partnership as a symbol of evolving, pragmatic politics aimed at addressing national challenges, including public debt, the high cost of living, and systemic corruption.

Reflecting on his political foresight in past coalitions, including the NASA alliance in 2017 and the 2022 “Earthquake” move that realigned his support to Ruto, Mudavadi urged residents of Western Kenya to trust his judgment ahead of the 2027 elections. “In 2022, many doubted me, but those who went the other way are now joining us. We must stay ahead of the curve,” he remarked.

At the same time, Mudavadi criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was recently impeached, accusing him of misleading the public and undermining the administration he once served. “When someone is impeached, he has no business going around misleading Kenyans. The interests of the nation must come first,” he stated.

Calling for unity and forward-thinking leadership, Mudavadi reiterated that State House remains open to all Kenyans and that President Ruto is committed to inclusive development. “President Ruto means well for every citizen and every region. We should embrace him even more,” he concluded.
