Police in Machakos County have recovered 20 stolen donkeys in a successful operation conducted today, September 22, 2025.
Officers from Mavoko SNP Police Station, acting on intelligence, intercepted the herd believed to have been stolen.
The prime suspect managed to escape during the operation, prompting a manhunt to bring him to justice.
The recovered animals were escorted to the station, where they are being held as police work to trace and formally hand them over to their rightful owner.
In a statement, the National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to combat livestock theft, which remains a significant threat to livelihoods in rural areas.
Authorities urged members of the public to continue sharing timely information to help security agencies act swiftly.
