In a significant boost to ongoing peace and disarmament efforts in the Kerio Valley region, police in Kolowa, Baringo County, received three illegal firearms voluntarily surrendered by local residents.

The surrendered weapons, three AK-47 rifles complete with magazines and eight rounds of ammunition were handed over to the sub-county security team through the support of local peace structures in Kipnai Location.

Authorities have confirmed that the firearms and ammunition have been secured and placed under safe custody. This move is part of a broader initiative aimed at reducing armed violence and fostering long-term security in the region.

The National Police Service lauded the cooperation of local communities, elders, and peace committees, emphasizing the importance of continued public engagement. Citizens are encouraged to support the disarmament process by sharing information and voluntarily surrendering illegal weapons.

This latest surrender marks a positive step forward in the collective effort to restore peace and stability in Baringo and the wider Kerio Valley area.
