A Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) employee has been fined over Ksh 8.5 million after the court found him guilty of using a forged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate to secure employment.
Felix Ojwang Balamu was convicted by the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court after investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) established that he used a fake academic certificate, purportedly from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), to obtain his job in 2011.
Balamu was found guilty on several counts, including fraudulent acquisition of public property valued at Ksh 8.24 million, deceiving a principal and presenting a forged document.
In her ruling delivered on October 10, 2025, Hon. Selesa Okore fined Balamu a total of Ksh 8,543,562, equivalent to the amount he unlawfully earned from the job or four years in prison in default.
The EACC welcomed the judgment, noting that it underscores the Commission’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding public resources and promoting integrity in public service.
