Police in Meru County are investigating a murder incident in Mutuati following the killing of a 49-year-old man.

Police said the incident occurred after an altercation between the deceased and another man over sharing of meat.

According to police, the body of Isaiha Ntokusiana was found lying in a pool of blood on a farm on April 14.

Police who visited the scene established that the deceased had sustained deep cuts on the back of his shoulder and left hand, believed to have been inflicted using a sharp object.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident may have been triggered by a disagreement between the deceased and the suspect over the sharing of meat.

Police said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack, escaping with the alleged murder weapon.

A manhunt has since been launched to apprehend him. The body was moved to the mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
