Detectives have arrested four suspects linked to a violent robbery incident in Butere, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation.

According to police, the incident occurred on the night of January 28, 2026, when the alleged attackers broke into a local shop and both physically and sexually assaulted the shopkeeper before stealing goods valued at approximately Ksh200,000 and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and the Operation Action Team (OAT) launched investigations that led to the arrest of two suspects, Benard Yaya Anaswa and Kelvin Omutanyi Zablon, in Mabungo village.

The two later led detectives to Shirota village, where a third suspect, Peter Osumba Omusinde, was apprehended.

In a related development, detectives arrested Johnstone Songa Maube at Sabatia Market, where he is suspected to have been in possession of stolen items. Authorities recovered several mobile phones believed to be part of the loot.

All suspects are currently in custody awaiting arraignment, while the recovered items have been secured as exhibits.

Police say investigations are ongoing.
