Methamphetamine weighing 1,320 grams bound for Las Piñas, Philippines, has been intercepted at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at the United Parcel Service-G4S facility.

The parcel valued at Ksh.10,56 million, declared as “handmade bags and clothes”, was found carefully sealed inside a handbag on Wednesday night after its appearance raised suspicions.

Upon careful physical examination, officers uncovered white crystalline substances concealed inside two handbags, wrapped in clear plastic bags.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said that tests undertaken on the specimen confirmed the substance to be Methamphetamine.

“The consignment has since been seized and detained as an exhibit,” DCI noted.

Meanwhile, a probe has been launched to nab the traffickers involved.
