Parklands Home Burglary Suspect Denies Charges as Court Defers Bail Ruling

A woman caught while allegedly preparing to commit a felony in an attempted house-breaking incident in Nairobi’s Parklands area has denied the charges before a Milimani court.

Lavender Akinyi Ogilo pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Irene Thamara on Tuesday after being charged with preparation to commit a felony contrary to Section 308(1) of the Penal Code.

According to the charge sheet, Ogilo was allegedly found armed with burglary related tools, including claw bars, assorted screwdrivers and a Y-spanner, in circumstances investigators say suggested an intention to break into a building and commit a felony.

The prosecution alleges that the incident occurred on May 31, 2026, at Parklands Court Limited along First Parklands Avenue in Westlands Sub-County, Nairobi County.

Court documents further indicate that Ogilo was allegedly acting jointly with other individuals who were not before court.

Her arrest followed a police operation launched after a resident reportedly raised alarm over suspicious activity involving occupants of a Nissan X-Trail within the compound.

The case stems from investigations into what police described as a suspected felony plot linked to house-breaking incidents in Parklands and surrounding areas.

Ogilo denied the allegations when she appeared before court.

The court directed that the accused remain in custody pending determination of bond and bail terms, which are expected to be issued on 3, June 2026.

Magistrate Irene Thamara is presiding over the matter.
