The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has arrested a police officer suspected to have raided the residence of a prominent businessman within Nairobi’s Muthaiga area.
Police Constable Jared Omboga Makambe is reported to have been on guard at the businessman’s residence during the incident.
He was arrested alongside two other private guards namely Judah Wafula and Stephen Omwega.
Police say that Manu Chandaria heard a loud bang at his main door & his efforts to call his gate’s security phone proved futile. Two armed thugs then gained entry into his house & robbed him unknown amount of money & assorted jewelry at gunpoint.
The thugs then escaped while firing a G3 rifle alleged to have been stolen from the police officer on guard. Officers responding to the scene conducted thorough search leading to the recovery of the suspected stolen G3 rifle at a nearby bush.
The have since been detained by the detectives.
