Moi University Students Protest ‘Delayed’ HELB Disbursements

Kenyan university students in Moi University have called upon the government to fast track education loan disbursements citing painful delays.

Students say the institution has not availed communications to the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) over the status of its students, initiating delays in funding for the comrades.

The students say the ordeal has left them studying for their examinations on empty bellies, and risking eviction from their rented premises.

The institution has however declined to acknowledge it had a part to play in the delays.

Instead, the university requested students to write to the administration promising immediate help to those affected.
