A family is mourning the death of a 16 year-old girl in Kisii County, who committed suicide after her parents rejected her relationship with her 21 year old boyfriend. – By Stephanie Mwangi.
The girl is said to have taken poison in MwaMokoro village in South Mugirango after her mother confronted her while in the company of her boyfriend who is a bodaboda rider.
The area chief Isaac Obara said that the parents had warned their daughter about being In that relationship with the boda boda rider even reported him to the police.
The mother of the girl found her with the boy in a room in a house that is still under construction ,she warned the young man to leave her daughter alone and ordered the girl to go home “
The chief went on to say that the family filed a case in court restraining the boda boda rider from seeing the girl again.
The girl’s mother was shocked on reaching home to find her daughter unconscious, she later took her to tabaka hospital and was pronounced dead .
