Man City Bounce Back To Win 2-1 Against Shocked PSG

EPL leaders Manchester City came back in spectacular fashion, from an early goal down to win 2-1 in the French capital on Wednesday night against Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.

The Cityzens made a slow start at Parc des Princes on Wednesday night, and Les Parisiens open the scoring through Marquinhos, who produced a commanding header from an Angel di Maria cross in the 15th minute.

PSG continued to control the game and twice came close to extending their lead. Neymar had a deflected effort turned over the bar, and Leandro Paredes headed wide from a set-piece when perhaps he should have hit the target.

City did have a couple of chances of their own, first coming close through Bernardo Silva. He had to stretch to reach a long pass by compatriot Joao Cancelo but managed to divert his effort on target. Keylor Navas turned it wide for a corner.

The visitors’ best chance of the opening period came shortly before half time. Silva fed the ball to Phil Foden, but he shot directly at Navas when he really ought to have done better.

A typical Kevin De Bruyne cross was struck into the box, however the on-rushing Manchester City players left goalkeeper Keylor Navas rooted to the spot, who left the ball to creep in for an equaliser.

Just over five minutes later, a dangerous free-kick just outside the PSG box was fired straight through the wall and into the net by Riyad Mahrez, giving the away side two much needed away goals to take back to Manchester.

The hosts seemed to lose their composure and ended the match with 10 men as City threatened to score more in a strong finish. Idrissa Gana Gueye was shown a straight red card for a poor challenge on Ilkay Gundogan.
