Commuters in Nairobi will be able to take hourly rides on the diesel-powered trains after Kenya acquired the second batch from Spain as part of a Sh1.1 billion effort to reduce traffic congestion.
Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) chairman Omudho Awitta stated that the six trains that arrived in the nation last week will allow the corporation to boost its frequency, easing the burden on hundreds of city commuters.
The first five Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) were introduced last year and are currently running on routes such as Syokimau-Nairobi and Embakasi-Nairobi.
The train between Syokimau and Nairobi runs five times each day, whereas the train between Embakasi and Nairobi runs three times each day.
