Authorities will ask the DRC to extradite a Kenyan who was arrested on terror-related charges in the country’s northern city of Beni.
Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo apprehended Salim Rashid Mohamed, alias Chotara or Turki Salim, on suspicion of being a member of the Allied Democratic Forces, which has been conducting raids in northern DRC near the Ugandan border.
Mohamed is a Mombasa inhabitant and a suspected terrorist who has a Sh10 million bounty on his head.
He was detained on suspicion of being a member of the infamous Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an Islamist rebel organization fighting along Uganda’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
He’d also become a member of the Islamic State’s Central Africa Province (ISCAP).
Officials familiar with the arrangements told the Star that Kenya will attempt to extradite him because he is wanted on an active warrant.
He is seen armed with a gun in one photo that has gone viral on the internet. He was also known as a beheader after a person suspected of being Salim was shown in an undated video killing a supposed “Isis traitor.”
The attackers are seen in the film wielding a machete and chanting in Swahili and Arabic that traitors must be murdered.
They’re all dressed in army fatigues and wield machetes and weapons.
