Dr. Ida Odinga, the wife of ODM leader Raila Odinga, has apologized for her remarks about the effect of church regulation.
Ida took to social media to withdraw her comments, claiming they were exaggerated.
“I wish to this morning withdraw the statement I made to NCCK to regulate the churches under them in order to promote consistency and relevance in messaging for promotion of evangelism in Kenya.”
“It has come to my realization that my comments haven’t sat well with some members of the church. I sincerely apologise for the discomfort caused as I meant no harm to any person.”
Her words were aimed to reaffirm that “training only improves the service of preaching and enhances the ministration of the word of God,” she explained.
Raila’s wife’s views attracted various reactions over the weekend.
“We want Kenyans to follow religions that have been properly registered rather than those whose belief systems have been commercialized. It’s also critical that we provide training to all those who preach the gospel “Ida made a statement.
Some Christian institutions, she claims, have been established to generate money while using God’s name rather than to bring people closer to God.
