Kelvin Omwenga murder trial proceeded today, with a close friend narrating events that proceeded the fatal shooting of the young businessman.
The prosecution today produced their first witness; John Mbugua who is also a business person as well as IT expert.
It was the witness testimony that on 21st August 2020 he was with the deceased, Wycliffe, Robert Ouko (the second accused), Zamzam and Rooney at Kevin’s house.
The witness submitted that at around 11:30pm Robert Ouko exited the house to smoke and after a short while, he returned and said he wanted to go home.
“Robert told Kelvin he wanted to go home. Kevin and Robert went to the bedroom, after a few hours there was a loud bang then Wycliffe asked us what was with the noise then proceeded to the bedroom” Said the witness.
According to the witness, Wycliffe went back and told them that Kelvin had been shot. Mr. Mbugua too proceeded to the bedroom and saw the deceased lying on the ground. There was a hole in his chest at the moment.
Mr. Mbugua and the other witnesses put the body to Robert’s car and took it to the morgue.
Mr. Phillip Obure faces a charge of failing to secure a firearm hence permitting another person, Robert John Ouko unlawfully take possession and use the firearm to advance the murder of Kelvin Omwenga.
Robert John Ouko the co-accused is charged with murder of Kelvin Omwenga on 21st August 2020.
The case has been slated to proceed on 13th and 14th June 2022.
