Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) leader Raila Odinga ‘s madoadoa remarks has irked a number of politicians across the political divide.Now, Kenya kwanza leaders want Mr Odinga arrested over his ‘madoadoa’ remarks he made in Wajir county yesterday.
Led by UDA party chairman Johnston Muthama, Tharaka-Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, Khatib Mwashetani (Lungalunga), Omar Boga (Msambweni), and their Matuga counterpart Kassim Tandaza the leaders called on the DCI, NCIC to ensure action is taken against him to be charged with hate speech the same way Mithika Linturi was arrested.
The leaders made the remarks during the second-day tour of the Coast at Gede in Kilifi North constituency Kilifi county on Thursday.
Muthama said Raila is not above the law and should face the full force of the law to be charged with hate speech.
He said the prosecution agencies and instigating bodies should fast-track the investigations to ensure they charge Raila.
On Wednesday Raila while campaigning for Azimio la Umoja in Wajir county urged the residents not to vote ‘madoadoa’ .
According to the Kenya Kwanza leaders, it’s the similar remarks of madoadoa that landed Meru Senator Mithika Linthuri in trouble and wondered why action has not been taken against the former Prime Minister.
Odinga said “As my soldiers, you must be armed and have ammunition. By that I mean you need to have a voter’s card and a national identity card. Therefore, we want you to elect Azimio candidates. We don’t want madoadoa (spots).”
Muthama said Raila’s statements were aimed at causing violence as the former PM is known to be a man of violence
“We are telling the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Inspector General of Police (IG) to ensure justice prevails,” he said.
The UDA chairman said the institutions in charge should summon the ODM party leader fa8ilure to which the work will know that Kenya is partisan and has no equality in the application.
He said it will be sad that Only people affiliated to a certain political wing are the ones targeted but others were left to walk Scot free.
On his part, Kindiki9 said Raila must be arrested and charged over his madoadoa remarks to prevent a perception that the government is applying the law selectively.
“I urge the d Police, DCI, and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) of Kenya to ensure the Azimio la Umoja leader, Raila Odinga is arrested and charged in court over his Madoadoa remarks to avoid applying the law selectively,” he said.
Kindiki said their colleague was arrested the same day he made the remarks and spent the night in a police station in Nakuru but since Raila spoke nothing has happened.
On the material day, he said the Meru Senator did not sleep in his house after a contingent of security officers were sent to arrest him and lock him up.
He said despite an apology from Linturi, Deputy President William Ruto the government agencies went ahead to arrest him yet now they have not taken any action against the former PM.
“If the investigating agencies fail to arrest and charge Raila with hate speech we will confirm our fears of selective application of law and misuse of government institutions for political mileage,” he said.
Jumwa who was the host since she is eyeing for the Kilifi Gubernatorial seat said Kingi will not win because he has endorsed candidates in his party to protect the billions, he stole during his 10-year tenure.
The Malindi MP said what Raila did on Wednesday was supposed to be taken with the seriousness it deserves the same way the government agencies did to Linturi.
She said as Kenya Kwanza they are demanding for the immediate arrest of Raila
Mwashetani and Tandaza on their part also condemned the government agencies for failing to arrest Raila and called for action.
