Chappelle Attack: Suspect Had Replica Gun

On Tuesday, during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, US stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle was attacked on stage.

Someone running into the star was seen in social media clips.

Further videos appeared to show the comedian returning to the stage at the Netflix Is A Joke Festival, seemingly unharmed.

Last year, when his Netflix special was accused of being transphobic, Chappelle faced backlash and protests.

On Tuesday, the 48-year-old returned to the stage and made light of the situation, telling the audience that the attacker “was a trans man.”

According to ABC journalist Stephanie Wash, Chappelle was joined on stage by fellow comedian Chris Rock, who was slapped on stage by Will Smith at the Oscars in March.

About a hundred people protested outside Netflix’s headquarters in October after a comedy special by Dave Chappelle was aired, which they claimed was transphobic.

They were upset because he said “gender is a fact” and that LGBT people were “too sensitive” in The Closer.

Later, Chappelle retaliated against those who he claimed wanted to “cancel” him. “I am more than willing to give the transgender community an audience,” he said. “You will not, however, summon me. I’m not going to give in to anyone’s demands.”
