Kenya Records 75 New COVID-19 Cases

The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that 75 persons contracted COVID-19 in the last 24 hours from a sample size of 2,248 people tested, bringing the positivity rate to 3.3 percent. 

There are 51 Kenyans and 24 foreigners among the cases; 39 men and 36 women, with the youngest being 6 years old and the oldest being 72 years old. 

The total number of verified positive cases is currently 324,349, with 3,653,013 tests completed so far. 

The instances were reported in three counties: Nairobi (59), Nyeri (12), and Kiambu (four). 

In a statement to newsrooms, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe claimed 36 people have recovered from the sickness, all through the Home-Based and Isolation Care Program. The total number of recoveries now stands at 318,360.

However, no patient has died as a result of the condition, leaving a total of 5,651 deaths. 

“We presently have 3 patients in our health facilities, and 335 people are enrolled in our Home-Based Isolation and Care program. “There are no patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), supplemental oxygen, or the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” CS Kagwe stated. 

“A total of 18,113,455 immunizations were given out across the country as of May 22, 2022.” 16,408,411 of these are dosages given to adults (18 and up).” 

According to the CS, 1,346,355 doses were given to people aged 15 to 17; 33,602 doses were given to people aged 12 to 15, and 325,087 doses were boosters.
