The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nakuru is currently questioning Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria about the county’s rising insecurity.

Confirming the same, Rift Valley DCI Boss Mwenda Meme said the legislator arrived in the morning and is being questioned.

“He is here, he arrived on Tuesday morning and is being interrogated by detectives,” said Mr Meme.

Gikaria was summoned earlier Tuesday to the Regional DCI Offices in Nakuru to record a statement.

Area County Criminal Investigation Officer Anthony Sunguti stated that the lawmaker was scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. today for questioning on security-related matters.

The summons comes a day after a security meeting in Mawanga was held between members of the public, leaders, and security personnel in response to the murder of six women in six months.

Residents have blamed the rising number of insecurity incidents on suspected ‘Confirm’ gang members.

In the meeting, locals claimed that some politicians have been funding and protecting the gang.

So far, 27 people have been arrested in connection to armed robbery incidents that had been rampant in the city.
