Sakaja Leads Nairobi Polls Amid Degree Scandal – Infotrak

Mr. Sakaja will win the governorship with 39 percent of the vote, followed by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition candidate Polycarp Igathe with 33 percent.

A new opinion poll shows that if elections were held today, United Democratic Party candidate Mr Johnson Sakaja would be elected as Nairobi governor.

According to an Infotrak Research and Consulting poll, Mr. Sakaja will win the governorship with 39 percent of the vote, followed by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition candidate Polycarp Igathe with 33 percent.

There is still a high number of undecided voters at 24 per cent. This means that whoever they vote for will see Mr Sakaja or Mr Igathe win by a wide margin.

Nairobi County has a total of 2,415,310 registered voters.

In the Senate race, Mr Sifuna, the secretary-general of the Orange Democratic Movement, has 44% of the vote, while UDA candidate Margaret Wanjiru has 12%. A staggering 39% are still undecided, with 5% refusing to respond.

Ms Passaris, the ODM candidate, leads the Woman Rep race with 46%, while UDA’s Millicent Omanga has 20%.

Another 20% are undecided, and 5% did not respond.

The poll was conducted on July 2 and 3 using computer-assisted telephone interviews. It surveyed 1,024 people in Nairobi County’s 17 constituencies and 85 wards and has a 95% confidence level with a +-3 percent margin of error.

According to the poll, 73% of those polled believe the country is heading in the wrong direction due to high living costs, while at least 11% believe the country is heading in the right direction due to infrastructure development.
