Virtual Weighbridges To Crackdown On Axle load Violators

Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) Axle Load Unit said the trucks, which are being monitored through the virtual weighbridge technology

Truck drivers operating within Kenyan borders have been warned against evading weighbridge sections.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) Axle Load Unit said the trucks, which are being monitored through the virtual weighbridge technology, will soon be impounded for not complying with the axle load requirements.

“We have truck drivers who evade our checkpoints not knowing that their details are being captured by our systems. We want to advise them to comply with the regulations to avoid being caught up with the law.”

Eng. Michael Ngala however commended trucking companies and SACCOs for complying with the axle road requirements.

He further urged truck drivers who have been evading the weighing stations to comply as this would ensure that the road infrastructure is maintained.

The Kenya National Highways Authority is currently partnering with transport stakeholders for a permanent solution to overloading, in a bid to ensure maintenance costs for road infrastructures are reduced.

The NTSA, Truckers Association of Kenya, Kenya Association of Manufacturers and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance have vowed to sensitize their stakeholders in ensuring the axle load limits are complied with.
