Ksh 100 Billion Software Factory To Be Set Up In Mulot

Potential software engineers have been found in Bomet County, particularly in the Mulot area.

A software factory is being built in Mulot, Bomet County, with a projected cost of Sh100 billion, according to the government’s Ministry of ICT, Innovation, and Youth Affairs.

During the groundbreaking ceremony for the factory, Board Chairman of the ICT Authority Professor Fredrick Owino read a speech on behalf of Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of ICT Joe Mucheru, in which the CS stated that the initiative is meant to close the nation’s digital divide.

The CS added that this would offer opportunities for business and wealth creation as well as equal access to ICT for all Kenyans.

“Our aim is to bridge digital divide by providing ICT infrastructure and services to every corner of the country, especially the rural communities like this software factory we are establishing here today,” explained CS Mucheru.

The Kenya National Digital Masterplan (2022–2032) was introduced by CS Mucheru in April of this year. It combines all government ICT initiatives into a ten-year plan, providing a single point of reference for all government ICT plans in the nation.

The National Digital Master Plan’s stated agenda, which called for the establishment of two software industries across the nation, will be greatly advanced by the establishment of the software industry in Bomet County.

The use of ICT for the benefit of the country will be accelerated by new trends in the sector and youth’s ongoing demonstration of their proficiency in the field.

Potential software engineers have been found in Bomet County, particularly in the Mulot area.

The government has established 1450 village digital hubs for digital literacy training, and film production spurs which are intended to impart skills and knowledge to youth.

Around 25,000 internet hotspots have been set across the country to provide internet services to innovators, youth, and entrepreneurs all these are centered on empowering youth.
