Hellen Wendy Nyabuto’s family has raised at least KSh 5.1 million to bring her body back home for burial. This comes just days after she was found dead in a swimming pool in Canada.

Wendy, as she was affectionately known, was out for an afternoon swim when she tragically drowned about 10 minutes into her live video. Unfortunately, her phone kept recording for more than three hours.

Enock described his 24-year-old sister on the GoFundMe page as “full of life, with a warm smile and a charming heart.”

Wendy smiles at the camera before diving into the shallow end of the pool. Then, about three minutes into the video, she moves to the deep end of the pool.

The video shows her scream for help, unable to swim in the deep end with no one nearby to help her. Then, less than a minute later, silence.

According to the video, it wasn’t until around 5 p.m. that another hotel guest discovered Wendy in the pool and requested that the live stream be stopped.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, they were called to the scene shortly before 5:45 p.m., nearly four hours after Wendy died.

“After life-saving measures were unsuccessful, an individual was removed from the water and pronounced deceased,” the Ontario Provincial Police said. Police stated that they were aware that a video of the incident had surfaced on social media and that steps were being taken to remove it.
