Following the Supreme Court’s order that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission submit a number of ballot boxes to the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance leader’s Lawyers for scrutiny, a total of 45 ballot boxes were availed at the Supreme Court on the morning of Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
However, it was discovered that no results were recorded in form 34A books 1 and 2 as required by election standards during the inspection of the Majengo polling stations ballot box in Mombasa County.
It was not clear how the presiding officers from the said polling stations omitted such a grave requirement. Legally, the results are intended to be presented at the National Tallying Centre manually and digitally on form 34A.
Several doubts have been raised about how the results ended up at the national tallying centre and finally at the IEBC’S portal without a hard copy of the said form in any of the ballot boxes.
