A week after the Supreme Court issued a landmark decision on the Presidential Election Petition, 123 additional candidates filed petitions to challenge election results in various positions.
The Judiciary announced on Wednesday that 12 petitions had been filed in the High Court to challenge Governor Elections, two for Senator, four for Woman Representative, and 28 for Parliamentary Elections.
In addition, the Magistrates Court received 77 petitions challenging the Member of County Assembly elections.
Among the petitions for gubernatorial elections are:
Sakwa Bunyasi of Busia County has challenged Paul Otuoma’s election.
Siyad Abdullahi and Hassan Adam of Garissa County have challenged Governor Nathif Jama’s election.
Tana River County – Hussein Dado has challenged Governor Dhadho Gaddae Godhana’s election.
Evans Kidero of Homabay County has challenged Governor Gladys Wanga’s election.
Katoo Metito Judah and Pere Judy Neiyeiyo of Kajiado County have challenged Joseph Ole Lenku’s election.
Purity Wangui Ngirici and Eliud Wanjao Ngige of Kirinyaga County have challenged Governor Anne Waiguru’s election.
Patrick Musimba of Makueni County has challenged Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior’s election.
Kilifi County – Justin Ringa Chirume has filed an election challenge against Gideon Mungaro.
Dziwa Zuma and Suleiman Mwanguku of Mombasa County have challenged Governor Abdulswamad Nassir’s election.
Moitalel Ole Kenta of Narok County has challenged Governor Patrick Ntutu’s election.
Dennis Omwenga Ayiera of Nyamira County has challenged Governor Amos Nyaribo’s election.
Wasilwa Makhakara and Julius Ole Mokita have challenged the Senatorial elections in Vihiga and Narok Counties, respectively.
Petitioners have also challenged the Woman Representative elections in the counties of Garissa, Kisii, Kilifi, and Nyamira.
Former MPs Maoka Maore, who was the Deputy Majority Chief Whip in the 12th Parliament, and Ex-Bahati MP Kimani Ngujiri are among the 28 petitioners who have challenged the Member of National Assembly elections.
Further, 77 Members of County Assemblies have expressed dissatisfaction with the elections and have filed petitions in Magistrate’s courts within their jurisdictions.
