Tharaka Nithi Demands Lions Share Of Government

Tharaka Nithi elected leaders have acknowledged that it is time for them to be included in the government to ensure that political gaps, development agendas, employment, and appointments to various ministries are implemented.

While addressing residents in Kamachuku, Maara Constituency, Tharaka MP Gitonga Murugara noted that Tharaka Nithi had delivered a 92% win for William Ruto and Kenya Kwanza, noting that the county required an equal share in matters of development and government appointments for its people.

Murugara went on to thank the President for appointing former Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki as Cabinet Secretary Interior and National Government Coordination, saying the county had long requested such appointments from previous regimes.

According to him, the county is still hoping for more positions such as Principal Secretary (PS) and Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).

“Tharaka Nithi County delivered a 92% win for Kenya Kwanza in the presidential election and we ask that the county receives appointments and allocations worth its contribution. We have been requesting positions such as the Cabinet Secretary and we thank President William Ruto for the appointment of Kindiki as CS. Without this, we can’t develop,” he said.

Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki echoed his sentiments, calling on all elected leaders in the county to work together to provide services to the people of Tharaka Nithi.

Kareke thanked Ruto for appointing Kindiki as the county’s first CS since independence, saying that as elected leaders, they would ensure more appointments in the county.

“This is our time. We are consulting with the President besides getting the CS position to also get a PS and CAS including other senior positions”, he said.

Candidates shortlisted for the positions of PS from the county include former Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant Erastus Nyaga Njoka, former Woman Representative aspirant Lucy Wanja Jukius, former Fisheries PS and CAS State Law Office Japhet Ntiba Micheni, Besty Muthoni Njagi, James Murithi Japhet Njiru, Joshua Mwiranga Njagi, Julius Nyaga Mwambu, Morris Murimi Micheni and Moses Njeru Mbaruku.
