Farmer Faces Defilement Charge for Molesting Girls Who Stole Cassava

A 23-year-old farmer from Kwania District is being held in police custody on suspicion of aggravated defilement.

The suspect allegedly saw the victims harvesting red pepper around 1pm on a fateful day. He called both of them and accused them of stealing cassava from his plantation.

“The victims denied the allegations, but he threatened them and later offered to sexually exploit them if they survived the accusations,” said North Kyoga regional police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema.

One of the victims escaped and informed her father, Mr Jasper Ogura, who contacted the local authorities, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

“The police were notified, and a case of aggravated defilement was filed at the Kwania Central Police Station. Our detectives also went to the crime scene “Okema stated.
