Police Intercept Lorry Carrying Counterfeit Goods In Kericho

A lorry suspected of carrying contraband was stopped by police from the Bureti sub-county along the Kericho-Liteinroute, and its three occupants were taken into custody and booked at the Kericho Police Station.

When the items were examined by a multi-agency team made up of Kenya Revenue Authority agents, it was discovered that 1,100 cartons holding 20 bottles of Best Classic Gin, valued at 4.4 million, were fake.

Before a Kericho magistrate court later, the suspects entered guilty pleas in anticipation of their Monday, December 19, 2022, sentence.

Additionally, while the counterfeit items are slated for destruction, the vehicle that transported them has been forfeited to the State.
