Baringo: Schools Closed Over Bandit Attacks Set To Open In January

Following the directive by President William Ruto, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mohamed Maalim has assured locals that schools will be opened in January 2023.

The schools had been closed due to rampant insecurity that saw bandits raid schools, killing teachers and locals.

RC Maalim was accompanied by Baringo County Commissioner Abdirisak Jaldesa, Baringo South Mp Charles Kamuren, Mca longisoi (Mukutani Ward), Mca Kipruto Kimosop (Mochongoi Ward) CeC Devolution Peninah Bartuin, CEC Water and Multi- agencies from (Public Works, Ministry of Education representatives).

Rugus, Nosuguro, Mukutani Secondary Kasiela, and Arabal are among the schools that were shut in Baringo South. 

The RC issued a mandate that all vandalized schools be rebuilt as soon as possible before the start of the school year next year. 

Maalim also stated that all schools will have security staff and comfort meals for students.
