At least two people have been confirmed dead following violent clashes between protesters and police in Mbeere North on Tuesday, April 14.
The victims were among a group of youths who had taken to the streets to protest the poor state of services at Ishihara Level 4 Hospital, accusing authorities of neglect and deteriorating healthcare conditions.
What began as a demonstration over healthcare concerns escalated into chaos as tensions rose, with protesters blocking roads and disrupting transport for several hours.
The situation worsened in the afternoon when police moved in to disperse the crowds, leading to confrontations that turned deadly.
Details surrounding the exact circumstances of the deaths remain unclear, but the incident has heightened concerns over the handling of public protests and the state of essential services in the area.
Authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive statement as investigations into the incident continue.
