President William Ruto turned away three principal secretaries from the Cabinet meeting at the Mount Kenya Safari Club on Friday, January 6, after they arrived late.
According to reports, the three arrived after the president and the meeting had begun at 7:00 a.m.
Moreover, the President urged his Cabinet to exercise caution in the use of public resources by avoiding spending money on activities that are of little value to citizens.
He is also said to have chastised Cabinet Secretaries who brought their assistants and support staff to the meeting and ordered them to pay for their expenses.
During his address to the meeting, the tough-talking President stated unequivocally his intention to eliminate laxity in his government, warning that he expected a departure from the previous administration’s style of rule.
Ruto specifically directed Cabinet Secretaries to attend to files on their desks on a daily basis in order to avoid backlogs, which have become the face of government offices over time.
“Do not hold the government, hostage. Clear any files that have been delivered to your desk. Every one of us must clear our desks at least once a day “He directed.
Furthermore, the Head of State reiterated his administration’s commitment to “bottom-up” service delivery by eliminating bureaucracy in all government offices.
