13,221 Schools Approved To Host Junior Secondary

So far, the Ministry of Education has approved 13, 221 schools to host junior high school beginning in late January.

This is based on the evaluation of 14,598 public and private schools up until January 13, 2023.

This means that 1,377 of the evaluated schools were unable to provide junior secondary education.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu stated on Monday during the release of the KCPE placement results adding that the junior secondary school fee will be KES 15,000.

According to Machogu, 38,972 2022 KCPE candidates have been admitted to the available 106 national schools.

The majority of these students are male (20,178), with 18794 female students.

Meanwhile, county and extra-county schools continue to serve the vast majority of students as the government strives for a complete transition from primary to secondary school.

County schools will admit 199,027 form-one students this year, while extra county schools will accept 228,160 new students.

According to CS Machogu, the government has set the national school fee at KES 53,554 and the county school fee at KES 40,555.
