The University Of Nairobi University has been ranked 14th among Africa’s best universities.
Kenyatta University was ranked at number 54, Egerton at 73, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology at 78, while Moi University closed Kenya’s rankings at position 79 out of 100.
In Uganda, Makerere University was ranked 13th among Africa’s best universities.
Kampala International University and Mbarara University of Science and Technology finished second and third, respectively, followed by Kyambogo and Gulu universities.
In Tanzania, University of Dar Es Salaam was the best, settling for position 49, while Sokoine University of Agriculture settled for 76.
Ethiopia had only one university in the listing, Bahir Dar University.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is a project of the cybermetrics lab, a research organization affiliated with the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), Spain’s largest public research body.
Makerere University was ranked 13th in the Webometrics assessment of 11,993 universities globally based on their excellence, openness, and influence.
