Mastermind Cop In Willie Kimani Murder Sentenced To Death

Fredrick ole Leliman, a police officer suspected of masterminding the 2016 brutal murders of Lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda, and driver Joseph Muiruri, has been condemned to death.

Justice Jessie Lessit, who delivered the long-awaited decision on Friday, singled out Leliman for acting “in blatant abuse of his power” as a police officer and masterminding the murder.

Stephen Cheburet Morogo and Sylvia Wanjohi, Leliman’s former coworkers and co-accused who were also found guilty of the murder, were sentenced to 30 and 24 years in prison, respectively.

Simultaneously, their informant, who is suspected of facilitating the savage murder of the three, was sentenced to 20 years in jail.

According to Justice Lessit, Lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda, and driver Joseph Muiruri were “most wicked murders, most terrible executions.”

The prosecution produced 46 witnesses to testify against the accused persons who in their defence brought forth 36 witnesses to defend them from the charges.

On June 23, 2016, Willie Kimani, his client Mwenda, and the taxi driver were kidnapped after leaving Mavoko Law Courts in Machakos County.

They were on their way out of Mavoko Court, where Mwenda had filed a lawsuit against Fredrick Leliman.

A few days later after being reported missing, their bodies were discovered floating on River Ol donyo Sabuk.
