The Mombasa High Court has re-charged an Administration Police Constable for the alleged murder of a civilian in Mwenza Village, Likoni, in 2018.
Before Lady Justice Anne Ong’injo, Yunus Athman Ali disputed the accusations of murder made against him.
A witness for the prosecution, Mohammed Karega Kassim, Ali’s fellow defendant, would testify throughout the trial.
Based on their ongoing investigation into Ali for a different murder charge, IPOA submitted an affidavit opposing his release on bond.
In May 2022, boda boda rider Albert Wekesa’s body was discovered near Dongo Kundu Road in Kwale County, and the suspect is accused of murdering him.
Next month, the court will decide this case. Yunus Ali will continue to be housed in the Shimo la Tewa Maximum Prison.
