Four Busted With Murang’a County Medicine Remanded For 14 Days

Four individuals who are suspected of stealing medicine from Murang’a County Referral Hospital will be held in police custody for the next 14 days while the investigation continues.

Police officers apprehended the four on Friday evening, February 24, 2023, when they were putting 12 cartons of pharmaceuticals into a waiting car within the hospital’s compound.

Anthony Ng’ang’a, Ann Nyambura, Frida Wangechi, and Linus Muriithi appeared in Murang’a law court on Monday morning, February 27, 2023, before senior resident magistrate Erick Musambai.

Steve Kongo, the investigating officer, asked extra time to conduct a more thorough investigation into the matter.

The suspects had asked the court for bail, to which Kongo objected, claiming that it would interfere with the investigations.

Murang’a governor, who was present in court, stated that it is unfortunate to see those entrusted with drugs meant for patients turn into thieves, causing the public to suffer.
