Jalang’o: I Will Be The First Luo President If Baba Does Not Make It

Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Felix Odiwuor, also known as Jalang’o, has stated that he intends to run for President in the future.

According to Jalang’o, if Raila Odinga fails to win the seat in the 2027 election, he intends to make history as the first president from the Luo region.

“One thing I know [is] that one day, and I have started using that hashtag IpoSiku, if Baba will not be the president I will be the first Luo president,” he told Behind the Mic host Cynthia Mwangi.

“All I pray for is life. The day you will see my poster, Jalang’o running for president, I will be the Commander in Chief.”

The legislator hinted that, before taking on the nation’s top job, he is open to exploring various electoral positions in his foreseeable political career.

“A day in politics is long and things might change. I might want to run for a bigger position or still want to stay in Lang’ata or [even] totally quit and say this was my chance and go do my stuff, but I still want to be in a position where I change people’s lives,” he said.

He also addressed the standoff between him and Raila over his alleged allegiance to President William Ruto, stating that he is willing to be chastised and called names as long as he keeps his promises to Lang’ata constituents.

“It has not been easy because so many people think I am a betrayer but I think time will judge me. I want the people of Lang’ata to give me a scorecard at the end of the five years to ask me you promised us this and this, have you delivered,” he said.

“My conscience is very clear I want to deliver to the people of Lang’ata.”

Jalang’o went on to say that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) should not label him a traitor because his loyalty to Raila is undeniable, but that this should not prevent him from working with the government.

“My love for Baba can never change, he knows it, I have met him since that day and I have also called him. He is not happy but my conscience is to deliver to the people so be it.”
