TIFA: 12% of Ruto Voters Believe He Did Not Win

According to a Tifa Research poll released on Thursday, April 20, 12% of Kenyans who voted for President William Ruto believe he did not win.

Furthermore, the survey found that 14% of Kenyans who voted for the Ruto-Gachagua ticket were unsure that he would defeat Azimio Leader Raila Odinga.

That meant that 26% of Kenyans who voted for Ruto in the presidential election on August 9, 2022, were unsure he would be in the State House.

71% of those who voted for Raila Odinga believe he won the hotly contested presidential election.

Only 14% of Raila supporters believe Ruto defeated the former prime minister, while 15% are unsure.

Despite being declared the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), only 48% of total voters in the country believed Ruto won the elections.

The then-IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati, declared Ruto the duly elected president, with 7,176,141 (50.5%) of the total votes cast, while Raila received 6,942,930.

According to Tifa Research, 37% of voters disagreed with that decision, believing that Ruto did not win fairly.

15% of Kenyans are unsure whether Chebukati made the correct decision in declaring Ruto the winner.

Tifa Research’s revelation came at a time when Azimio was demanding the opening of electoral servers to determine whether Ruto had indeed won the presidency.

Despite a large number of Kenyans doubting Ruto’s victory, Tifa Research indicated that Azimio’s popularity was dwindling.

Azimio’s popularity rating was 46% in July 2022, but it is now 36%.

Kenya Kwanza popularity increased from 40% to 49% over the same time period.
