The Directorate of Public Prosecutions has informed Court that his office will not prefer any criminal charges against the self-proclaimed ‘Christ’ commonly referred to as Yesu wa Tongaren.
Bungoma Principal Magistrate Tom Olando, on Tuesday, May 16, ruled that the application by the ODPP to release the Messiah and close the file was valid.
He therefore ordered the self-proclaimed Messiah, Yesu wa Tongaren to be released from police custody.
The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution stated that findings by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) did not come up with any sufficient grounds to implicate Yesu was Tongaren to any criminal offence.
The Messiah named Eliud Wekesa was initially accused of money laundering and religious radicalization.
However, the prosecution asked Principal Magistrate Tom Olando to release him and close the file without any further orders.
