Embattled pastor Ezekiel Odero has asked the court to allow him to withdraw Ksh.50 million from his frozen bank accounts in order to maintain his ministry and school.
In a motion filed in court, Ezekiel also requests that the court reduce the 30-day freeze on his bank accounts to 15 days.
“The bank accounts serve as a lifeline for many disadvantaged individuals, and the act of closing them would unduly burden these individuals, condemning them to significant hardships and struggles,” said Ezekiel in an affidavit.
He argues that freezing the bank accounts has caused financial and logistical hardship to the operations of Kilifi International School and New Life prayer Centre & church.
Ezekiel says that the financial overheads of running the church and school cannot wait for the lapsing of 30 days as directed by the orders issued by the court on May 8.
“The cash flow issues occasioned by the freezing of the Applicant’s accounts is causing a negative impact on the workers and students associated with New Life Prayer Centre & church and Kilifi international school,” he argues.
