President Ruto Flies To The United States

President William Ruto left the country on Wednesday night for the United States, where he will emphasize Kenya’s commitment to technological innovation.

According to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, Ruto will visit Silicon Valley in San Francisco, where he will meet with executives from Microsoft, Intel, Google, and Apple, among others.

He stated that the visit aims to improve investment opportunities and trade relations with the United States, with a particular emphasis on nurturing Kenya’s thriving start-up sector, dubbed “Silicon Savannah.”

“The President will highlight Kenya’s young talent, green energy initiatives, and the country’s value as an alternative supply chain for American businesses,” Mohamed said.

The President’s next stop will be New York City, where he will attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The global gathering will evaluate progress toward the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as address critical global issues such as the climate crisis and debt concerns in the Global South.

“Additionally, the Head of State will participate in the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Ambition Summit, building on the successes of the recently concluded Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi,” said the spokesperson.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, the President will preside over a session of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change, he said.
