President Ruto Welcomes King Charles, Queen Camilla At State House

President William Ruto formally welcomed King Charles and Queen Camilla at State House Nairobi.

The King and Queen arrived in Kenya late Monday night and were greeted by Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, and the British High Commissioner to Kenya, Neil Wigan.

This is King Charles’ first trip to Kenya since succeeding his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September last year.

Kenya is also the first former colony and Commonwealth nation that King Charles has visited since ascending to the throne.

The visit will focus on how Kenya and the United Kingdom can boost mutual prosperity, combat climate change, and promote youth opportunities and employment.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will also pay a visit to Mombasa’s historic Mandhry Mosque.

On Friday, the King and Queen are expected to meet with Muslim leaders at the mosque.
