Two Suspects Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Murder In Kisumu

Kisumu High Court sentenced two convicts to life imprisonment after they were found guilty of the gruesome murder of retired Justice Effie’s Farm manager George Anyango alias Bengo in 2018.

The two suspects, Isaac Kiptoo Rono alias Malakwen and Julius Mengich Kipyegon, were each charged with cold-blooded murder in an incident in which the Judge’s son Paul Owuor was also attacked and left for dead but narrowly escaped.

In the November 17 2018 incident, the suspects who were armed with machetes ambushed and attacked Anyango at his boss’s farm, inflicting multiple injuries on him before slitting his throat.

“The DCI welcomes the sentence awarded to the two murderers by Justice Helen Aburiri of the Kisumu High Court, with the hope that Bengo’s family will be comforted by the delivery of justice to their kin, “read a statement published online by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

During the murder, it was reported that Paul Owuor, a licensed firearm holder who had accompanied Anyango to the farm, fired in the air to repulse the attackers, but his firearm developed a stoppage and was equally attacked.
