Deputy President William Ruto’s plans in Nyamira county have received a nod from Police on Tuesday, October 13 – By Enock Mukoma
The two fuctions are scheduled for Thursday, October 15, after application and compliance with the National Security Advisory Committee’s (NSAC) directives on public meetings.
In the two letters as seen by Uzalendo newsfrom Police Commander, Mohamed Sasura and one from Keroka OCS, Elam Esendi confirmed the approval
“Take note that the permission for fundraising for Nyamria South Sub-county Boda Boda Sacco scheduled for Thursday 15th October 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Sironga Sports Ground to be presided over by the Deputy President His Excellency William Ruto has been granted,” read part of the letter from Sasura.
Organizers were however advised to comply with the directives by National Security Advisory Committee (NSAC) and in accordance with the Public Order Act Chapter 56.
The gathering was also ordered to adhere to the health protocols issued by the Ministry of Health in regards to Covid-19.
Further the organizers were urged to work with police officers to ensure that law and order is maintained.
Otherwise organizers would be held responsible for any acts of lawlessness and disorder that may arise from the function.
Elsewhere a planned fundraiser at a church in Nyamasebe was also approved by OCS Elam Esendi.
“This office received your above letter notifying your intention to hold a Sadaka collection in respect of Nyamasebe District.
“This is to notify you that your request has been granted and you will cooperate with the police to ensure that security is maintained throughout the function,” read the letter from Esendi.
Last week Thursday October 8 police blocked the two functions on account of a public order act, citing lack of compliance.
Police dispersed Ruto’s supporters at Kebirigo High School and Nyangoge Primary School grounds in Nyamira County on Thursday, October 8 leading to their postponement.
