Activist Moves To Block Another Ruto Appointee

A petitioner has challenged President William Ruto’s nomination of Mary Wambui to the Communication Authority Board of Directors.

Justice Mathews Nderi stated that the petition filed by activist Evans Momanyi is urgent.

However, the judge declined to impose a provisional injunction preventing Wambui from taking office until the matter is heard in inter-partes.

Mr. Momanyi challenged the businesswoman’s competence accusing her of not having a degree.

He also added that Wambui failed the integrity test because of the Sh2.2 billion tax evasion charge she is facing in the anti-corruption court.

According to the activist, the President’s nomination of Wambui was irregular, illegitimate, and a clear violation of the law.

He further requests that the court grant him permission to initiate judicial review proceedings in the case.

The case was filed after Wambui was nominated by President Ruto on December 1 to take over the position left vacant by Gilbert Kibe after his resignation.
