Security Tightened Ahead of Africities

Security has been beefed up in Kisumu ahead of the planned Africities summit that starts today up to May 22.

Up to 6, 000 delegates among them seven Heads of State and Government are expected to attend the 9th edition of the summit.

President Kenyatta is among those expected at the meeting.

All matatus and buses have been directed away from the CBD to Uhuru Business Park Complex along Nyerere Road as part of plans to host the event.

The theme for the 9th Edition is, ‘The Role of Intermediary Cities of Africa in the implementation of Agenda 2030 of the United Nations and the African Union Agenda 2063’.
