Pangani Cop Ahmed Rashid Denies Threatening Witnesses

Ahmed Rashid the Eastleigh Cop behind the 2017 murder of two boys has refuted police allegations that he tampered with prosecution witnesses in his murder case.

Rashid was charged with two counts of murder in the 2017 deaths of two boys in Eastleigh.

The prosecution said that since he is a police officer, he has power and that witnesses became afraid of him, causing them to flee Eastleigh.

However, Rashid in response said that after his interdiction, he no longer has the powers and privileges of a police officer and thus has no access to use firearms, arrest, or detain people.

He further claims that he never directed people to demonstrate, claiming that he was on leave in Garissa at the time of the protests in Nairobi.

The state had informed the court that the protests at Milimani law courts had made several of their witnesses concerned about their safety in Eastleigh.

He claims the witnesses were unknown to him and that, if anything, there is a witness protection agency and that the state has the proper machinery in place to safeguard its witnesses if they feel threatened.

“I am not a flight risk and I have a permanent abode in Kenya at Mlango and Garissa and have no intention of fleeing and leaving my family alone,” Submitted Rashid in Court papers.
