Air France-KLM Projects 20pc Passenger Bookings

Air France-KLM Group anticipates a nearly 20% increase in passenger bookings as Kenya’s aviation industry recovers from the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In comparison to last year, the airline anticipates a 19% increase in passenger seats in 2023.

It attributes the recovery to an increase in business travel demand.

“Kenya and the region remain top priorities for our network, and we will continue to provide a high-frequency network with updated products and services to connect Kenya to the rest of the world via our two hubs, Charles De Gaulle – CDG and Schiphol,” said the airline’s East, Southern, and West Africa General Manager Marius van der Ham.

The progress will be replicated in other markets, including South Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana.

The company has also implemented a number of measures to strengthen its position in the East African market and to meet changing consumer demands.

It follows a difficult period caused by the coronavirus, which saw airlines worldwide ground flights, resulting in millions of dollars in losses.
Last year, the airline had restored at least 85 percent of its capacity.

Whereas corporate travelers contributed 95 percent in Kenya, Tanzania contributed 75 percent.

In addition to plans to expand its routes, the consortium has stated that it will incorporate sustainability and reduce the airline’s carbon footprint by 2023.
