The office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has dropped graft charges against CS nominee, Aisha Jumwa.
The Sh19 million graft charges had haunted the former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa after President William Ruto appointed her to the Public Service and Gender Committee.
Jumwa was facing a murder charge as well as a Sh19 million graft case prior to her appointment.
The nominee for the Public Service and Gender Cabinet was officially charged in court with the two cases.
She was charged with allegedly stealing CDF funds.
Hon. Jumwa was one of 22 Cabinet nominees unveiled by Ruto in the hopes of assisting him in implementing the Kenya Kwanza agenda.
As part of the requirements to enforce ethics and integrity, the Constitution requires that they all be vetted by the National Assembly before taking office.
However, some of the President’s nominees are facing criminal charges such as murder, rape, and corruption.
Some MPs have also pledged to conduct thorough background checks on cabinet nominees.
MPs have criticized several of the cabinet nominees, raising concerns about their eligibility to hold CS positions.
